The property of public utilities, such as airlines, railroads, electric, telephone and pipeline companies, is assessed at the state level by the property tax administrator. Our firm helps such entities challenge state-assessed property taxes.
Do you need to appeal a state-assessed property tax valuation? Contact our experienced Denver state-assessed property tax attorney today by calling 303-813-1111 or sending us an e-mail.
No later than April 1 of each year, each public utility doing business in Colorado is required to file with the administrator — on the form provided by the administrator and a statement providing information about itself and its property. Failure to file the required form timely will result in a late filing penalty and can result in the value of the public utility being determined on a “best information available” basis.
State-assessed property valuations are appealed to the property tax administrator. If the property tax administrator denies your appeal, you can challenge that decision by appealing either to the Board of Assessment Appeals or to the Denver District court. Our skilled property tax lawyer has experience challenging the value of property at the state level. He has a reputation for getting results in property tax law cases. He has handled property tax cases at both the county and the state levels in his 29-plus years of practice.
